Trap shooting target presentations are representative of Pheasant shooting. Targets are thrown at several unknown angles, down range away from the shooter. Shooters start at any one of five shooting stations, then take turns shooting at targets.
After completing the proper number of shots, all shooters move to the next position until each shooter has shot at the targets from each station.
There are three forms of Trap shooting competition, Singles, Handicap and Doubles. Singles is shot 16 yards behind the trap using 25 targets. Handicap is shot anywhere from 17-27 yards back (depending on the shooters skill level) using 25 targets. Handicap tends to level the playing field for less skilled shooters. The third form is Doubles which is shot from 16 yards and normally has 50 tagets.
