Concealed Carry Class
Tulsa Gun Club has years of experience hostingthe Oklahoma Concealed Carry class.
Our students learn:
- The State of Oklahoma law concerning Concealed Carry. When a person may use deadly force to protect themselves and family members. Safe firearms handling in public, at home and on the range.
- Proper methods for loading and unloading semi-automatics and revolvers
- Learn “sight alignment” and “sight picture”
- How to apply for the Oklahoma Concealed Carry license.
This class is taught by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (O.S.B.I.) and Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (C.L.E.E.T.) certified instructor(s). The course is as prescribed by the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act (Title 21, Oklahoma Statues, Section 1290.1 et seq.) to meet the educational requirements to qualify for an Oklahoma Concealed Carry License.

Dan Detmer offers the Oklahoma Handgun License Class (formerly called the Concealed Carry Class), Defensive Pistol, and Personal Handgun Training, Firearms For Women, and other handgun clinics at the Tulsa Gun Club. See the ‘Calendar’ for class dates. Dan is an NRA Certified Pistol and Shotgun Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, National Skeet Shooting Association Level 1 Instructor and International Defensive Pistol Association Safety Officer. Dan teaches several NRA classes including NRA FIRST Pistol, Basic Pistol, and NRA Refuse To Be A Victim (RTBAV). In addition he is certified in Oklahoma to teach the Oklahoma Self Defense Act (Concealed Carry) Classes.

Dan Detmer is National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) Certified Shotgun Instructor, Level 1 – Beginners. If you would like to learn the games of skeet, trap, or 5-stand or improve your hunting skills, please give Dan a call. Learning the fundamentals of shotgun shooting can enhance your enjoyment of the shotgun sports and improve your success while hunting. Dan will teach you the three basic ‘lead’ techniques, proper gun fit, learn the different ‘chokes’ and which choke you should use, the correct way to hold a shotgun, ‘pattern’ your gun, which type of shotgun is right for you, and more. Regarding skeet and trap, there are fundamentals to be learned and employed at each station. Learning these fundamentals and having a solid and proven game plan will have you breaking more birds and bring more enjoyment from the game. Ask about shooting the 5-Stand game at the Tulsa Gun Club where you will add to your skill set – this will help your Dove and Pheasant shooting. A variety of shotguns can be rented for the lesson. Barry Hartmann offers private lessons at the club for members and non-members. Barry is a NSSA Master Level and NRA Certified shotgun instructor who help you improve your skills at American Skeet or Trap. Barry can even help improve your wingshooting.
